Description

What this part does

The TCM (transmission control module) is mounted on the outside of the DPS6 gearbox and drives the two clutch actuator motors and the two shift-fork motors. It is the most common DPS6 failure.

Typical signs of a failed TCM: no S on the display, no reverse, the gearbox stuck in neutral, and codes such as P0901, P090B, P087B or P2831 that clear and come back after a few kilometres.

Check battery voltage (above 12 V) before condemning the TCM.
Before fitting, check both actuator motors turn freely by hand and fit two new seal rings.
The TCM must be programmed to the car (Ford IDS / FDRS or equivalent), then run the learning procedure.
Never test-fit a faulty TCM — it can damage the shift drum (P287B).
